UNDERSTANDING THE BRITISH SYSTEM OF EDUCATION
Educating children in the UK As you might be aware for a better part of this year family rebuild has been running a program on Understanding the British system of Education. As a teacher I felt there is something that our children are missing and it goes a long way to hinder their excellence. Is it food or shelter? No! Is it support from parents? No! What is it then? It is RELEVANT support on Education! Why is it so? This is because most of the current parents from Africa or other foreign countries were educated outside the UK and have limited knowledge on the British education system. This means that our children are being educated in a system we least know about. What has been the effect of that? Children get limited support at home which is also based on what the parent knows. Certainly you might have realised there emerges a conflict. On the other hand the teachers at school expect you to engage effectively during the parent’s meeting. Unfortunately very few of us spend more than 3 minutes with a teacher unless when summoned because of an incident. Why is it the case? An ordinary parent will node at everything the teacher says because he/she is not well informed to engage. (NB: We do appreciate that this is not the case for every parents and our commendations goes to those who have demonstrated positive support for their children’s education) Do you have the future for your child at heart? The best future that a parent can give his/her child is ensuring that the child has achieved a good basic education that will put him/her at a global platform where only the competent stand. An all round educated child will be able to take care of the property that you spend every bit of your energy investing on when your eyes will have become closed in death. Understanding how you can help your child is therefore the most important thing that you can do now when he/she is in school. How will I do this? Mr. Kamotho Alex and Rev. Peter Wangaruro both Kenyan born and long standing teachers in the United Kingdom have authored a very elaborate book / manual that has tackled every aspect of British System of education. The title of the book is - Understanding the British system of Education. This book is suitable for every Parent educated outside the UK. It has a lot of relevant information which you might not be aware of. The book is available and is a good personal investment at a price of less than ordinary laxaries. Please do not delay in understanding for the fruit of not understanding will be detrimental to the performance of your child. Let not your child be the last one to achieve or be least motivated. There are many factors that may place your child below others but understanding will bring a reversal. Africans are intelligent though many time we use ignorance as a blanket. A time to take position and let our children shine is now and not later. Where can I get the book? We will try and make the book available tat the main venues where Africans meet. Additionally get in touch with the authors and they will direct you accordingly. Wangaruro- 07940105578, Kamotho: 07944701204.
